Designing a bold, human – centred identity, connecting people and nature at Kingsmeadows

Developing a visual communication system and an intuitive website that powerfully connects people with the natural world through the purpose-driven charity Kingsmeadows.

The Brief and Core Challenge

Kingsmeadows required a visual identity that could bridge its deep historic roots with a bold, contemporary call to ecological and social action. The core challenge was to create a brand that felt both timeless and urgent – capturing the tactile, human connection to nature in a world dominated by digital interaction.

Key objectives included:

  • Honouring Legacy: Incorporate elements from the estate’s history and the brand’s heritage to maintain authenticity.
  • Expressing Urgency: Convey a sense of immediate, revolutionary action against environmental and social systems that harm nature and community.
  • Fostering Connection: Visually embody the intimate relationship between people and the natural woodland environment.
  • Ensuring Versatility: Develop an identity that performs strongly across both physical and digital platforms.

Strategic Solution: Symbolism and Execution

The identity was crafted to embody a tactile, human-centred approach, merging tradition with rebellion.

The Emblem

A logo combining an open hand with native Kingsmeadows woodland elements forms the shape of a tree – a symbol of both revolution, and connection.

Early concepts drew on the estate’s legacy, Kingsmeadows previous heart-shaped tree mark and protest graphic design elements, integrated with native fauna to balance heritage with modernity.

Typography and Colour

Typography: A bold, modern typeface with asymmetrical lettering was chosen to evoke a personal, human touch – bringing warmth and authenticity to the brand.

Colour Palette: Bold, nature-inspired colours were chosen, optimised for low-energy OLED screens, reflecting both ecological commitment and digital vibrancy.
