Somewhere Uncharted Ltd; operate in a manner that we believe minimises our impact on the environment. This policy covers all aspects of our design agency work; from day-to-day processes, to recycling, meetings, travel, purchasing and many other activities that we undertake, including reviewing our suppliers and their environmental footprint.
Our Design Agency Working practices
- We switch off all appliances when not in use.
- Our computers have energy-saving settings optimised for periods of inactivity.
- We utilise electronic communication whenever possible, and we only print copy where essential, reducing our ink and paper usage to the minimum.
Lighting, heating and water
- We only use low energy LED lighting.
- We turn off lighting when its not in use and make the most of natural lighting.
- We only use heating as necessary and set appropriate temperature settings.
- We only use the water we need – for example, to boil a kettle.
- Doors and windows are kept shut if heating needs to be on.
- We ensure heating is not in use when the office is closed or unoccupied.
Paper, printing and photocopying
- We ask our design agency team to minimise hard copy production.
- Double-sided printing is practised so we minimise waste.
- We print in mono rather than colour unless absolutely necessary.
- All inkjet cartridges are recycled.
Transportation
- Where practical we utilise public transport and if possible, we walk or cycle to attend meetings with our clients.
Communications
- We have our design agency team prioritise the use of video conferencing so avoiding unnecessary travel to meetings.
Reducing, reusing and recycling
- All office paper is recycled wherever possible.
For example we reuse paper that’s already printed on one side for draft documents.
Print and paper suppliers
- We seek to engage suppliers who follow the same or similar principles to ourselves.
All waste products recycled, including waste paper.
